Building a registry can be fun and stressful at the same time.  You get to walk around with a scanning gun and add unlimited items that will help build your next chapter. And let’s be real, you can ask for anything!  Every time I see décor on a registry, I can’t help but think about all of the other ways they could be using this money.

The reality check is you’re not 25 anymore.  By now you hope to have a decent salary, savings, and responsibility that’s worth protecting.  For our soon-to-be newlyweds, you have a house or will be buying a house soon.  You know you’re supposed to have life insurance and wealth management plans to secure your future but probably haven’t talked to anyone about it.  And most importantly, you have to write your Wills, Trusts, Power of Attorneys, and Living Wills to include your spouse and future children!

Just because your friends haven’t done this yet, doesn’t mean it’s not possible.  With registry websites like zola.com, you can literally ask for anything!  So why aren’t you asking for gifts to apply towards your estate plans?  Why aren’t you asking for gifts to hire an attorney to review the contract on your house?  I can assure you, one of your relatives would LOVE to give you the gift of a secure future.
